Bay Rats patrolled the Rockaway and Inwood area in the 1980's & 1990's. They consisted
of a small group of guys that grew up in Far Rockaway, on Chandler St, McBride
St, Nameoake St, and the surrounding area. They attended St. Mary’s, Far
Rockaway High School and hung out at places like the Lot, Miltys, the parking
lot at Beach 17th St, the Bay (Waterloo), and later on at the Boat
Yard in Inwood, NY. Any opportunity that the boys had to hang out, they did. The stories are endless, from the Ski houses on Hunter
Mountain to the Jamaica Bay where they proclaimed the name Bay Rats.
We also loved to buy old cars and work on them. Mostly 60's muscle cars and convertibles. Countless late nights were spent working on the cars at my fathers shop, Nicks Service Station, on Beach 90th St. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of all of the cars, but I have quite a few.
